(D10 LE) Cleaning Up

[Varina Ordo]

"If I had to vote for someone with confidence, it'd be Bo-Katan," Varina admitted, "I used to look up to her, though. I don't think she's the best role model, just like my mom isn't."

The young lass shrugged. "I think our freedom is tied to the galaxy itself. As long as there's an Empire... Nobody is free."

[Raven Cadera]

Raven had her own opinion on Bo-Katan, but it wasn't something she needed to share with Varina.

"It's hard to find good rolemodels, with the current state of our people. And I agree, our fate - the fate of the galaxy - it's all part of the great whole. If we can get enough of our people together, to stand together, I think we could really make a difference. But right now... we're too scattered. Too divided. Everyone's doing their own thing what they think is best..." just as she was. Just like they all had to do.

"I don't know what you look for in a rolemodel though? Is anyone cool enough for Varina?" she said jokingly, nudging the younger Mandalorian.

"Maybe it isn't so bad on some planets. Or maybe it is," Varina shrugged. She wasn't about to go about on some great, galactic unification. Such a thing didn't seem possible for her to accomplish.

"I don't know who should be a role model anymore. Maybe I'm just not meant to have any."

[Raven Cadera]

"Hey, not even me?" Raven feigned being hurt for a moment.

"... What about your dad though? You still got family, Varina. Family that cares about you, no doubt."

[Varina Ordo]

"You're not that much older than me," Varina replied, "I admit, I thought about you though."

She shrugged. "Dad? I don't know, I don't think he'd even fight the Empire if a blaster got put in his hand and I was getting shot at."

[Raven Cadera]

Raven gave a shrug. "Have you talked with him about it? I mean... there's lots of things one can do to fight the Empire, without actually having to physically fight. And besides, you're a woman grown - he also needs to respect your decisions for what you want to do."

[Varina Ordo]

"My dad and I never really talked after mom left. Usually broke down into arguments," Varina admitted.

[Raven Cadera]

Raven sighed, and shook her head.

"Please, Varina, this is the only thing I'll ask of you, but... family is precious. And he is your family. Promise me you'll go back home, and try to speak with him. Without arguing."

[Varina Ordo]

"I'm afraid he'll keep me under lock and key if I go back. I did run away from home..."

[Raven Cadera]

"Varina..." her voice was softer, "... you're his child. More than anything, he'll be relieved that you're safe and sound. And... perhaps... this will make him see thar you're an adult now. A Mandalorian woman. Not someone he can lock up."

There was a great sadness in her eyes as she made Varina look at her with a gentle tilt at the chin. "Never take your family for granted, Sister. Family is everything to our people - no matter where one stands."

"What if he spoke to the Imperials? What if they try to make me one of them?" Varina closed her eyes. "What if he doesn't let me look for mom?"

[Raven Cadera]

"That's a lot of if's. Excuses. Are you not going to something, just because it might go bad?" Raven said, much more firm in her tone now.

[Varina Ordo]

"This is my future we're talking about though. My dad made his choices," Varina complained. She was, after all, still very, very young.

Raven, on the other hand, when she had been Varina's age had already gone grown up quite a lot and faced her own dangers.

"And now you must make yours. I can't tell you what to do, Varina, unless you want me to - but to be a Mandalorian is to make your own choices. Even the hard ones. Mishuk gotal'u meshuroke, pako kyore... Pressure makes gems, ease makes decay. You must make a choice."
