Pokosta Evening Gala [Day 4, Late Evening, Roleplay]

"I mean more generally." Manny said, his expression turning serious. "I'm pretty focused on Kamda, but even I can see that there's big things going on." He spread his hands. "You've been a lot of places, and I think you're the second smartest person I know, so I figured maybe you'd have some idea."

"It takes remarkably little education to sound intelligent, a bit like your tricks really. As long as you sound confident and you speak to one lacking in knowledge on the subject..." Jyrvess shrugs, "I didn't linger any many of them. It's more I am well read, particularly on the Outer Rim."

"As for the answer to your question...perhaps this is not best venue to discuss such a thing."

[Lysa]

"The usual. Hunting, fighting, training," Raven shrugged. It hadn't been an exhilirating time since then, but it had been busy enough. Oh hey, there's food here!

"And you? You seem like the type to create your own excitement."

Lysa followed the woman's eyes "Hungey?" She asked with a small smile "one benefit of these things is pretty good food if a bit fancy for me since I'm used to packaged meals and food stalls."

"As for me you know staying entertained, tinkering, burning through cash we got to secure tools and mods and replenish the stock." Laying in bed for three days for no reason she jabbed at herself mentally as she sipped champaign and motioned to a server rotating with a tray of small food on tiny plates.

The other Kel Dor nodded and moved into the scrum. "And how were we finding it," he asked politely, his hands spreading in greeting and to suggest friendliness, a hint of wry chuckle echoing in his rebreather.

"Most.. excitable," Chos said, warmly receiving him in. "One of my compatriots here was just telling us about his expectations on the market thanks to the temporary shut-down of Beinirk mines," Chos said, and then the other man of which he spoke went into a rather length discussion about the topic presented.

[Feel free to pick up with something after the assumed, very long explanation.]

[Roxi]

"Fights? You're getting paid for fights?" Solork can't help but be interested. "Wait, do you mean that people have been paying you introduce Mr. Hydrospanner to non-paying customers' kneecaps, or running off bandits, or..."

"Oh, no it's totally legit!"

It totally wasn't.

"It's like a... it's like a tournament or something."

Which she wasn't supposed to talk about. Aw, shit.

[Solork Tan]

"A... tournament?" Solork pauses. A fight. Tournament. Everyone there going in knowing exactly what they were getting into. No innocents.

"Are they... still looking for competitors?"

"Uh," she realized her mistake, "but then... I'd probably end up having to fight you. And that would be sad. Because these fights are pretty brutal, you know."

[Solork Tan]

Solork takes the woman and nods sagely. "You're right. I would take little joy in beating an associate. Still, if the money is right, I would find a way to overcome the impulse."

The words are said flat, not with any intention of a taint, but casual certainty

She laughed at that. A very hard, but friendly laugh.

"I would destroy you," she said, as the laughter suddenly died. She then slapped him on the shoulder. "I'd hate to have to kill you though. The crowds, they get a little bloodthirsty sometimes, and not everyone walks out alive."

[Solork Tan]

Sol studies the woman. He hasn't been particularly scared of her, but she had some experience it seemed. She had mentioned a group before...what were they again?

"I'm not exactly a stranger to violence. The crowd is a new thing though. My employers before I came here usually didn't like witnesses." Sol shrugs. "Maybe they'll let me warm up the crowd for you"

A well-dressed Mirialan male walked among the guests. Never sticking too close to any social group and, truthfully, never really seeming to find his place. Though when he passed others he wore a charming smile he almost appeared as if he was a ghost walking among the party.

With a glass of wine in his hand he approached the glass window that allowed him to look over the city in what was likely to be temporary solitude.

She chuckled a little as Lysa spoke and they helped themselves to some food. "Y'know what they say, ammo and grenades ain't cheap. Guess that's why I like the sword most of the time - doesn't run out of swordiness."

"So often the case," Varina lulled. She held out a dainty hand. "Morrigan of House Alder." Morrigan seemed like a fancy enough name. "You may have seen my lout of a brother walking about."

"It is my pleasure to make your acquaintance, my lady," he leaned down and kissed her hand like one might an alderaanian noble.

"Perhaps, it is likely I have, but I am afraid I have not been able to tell him apart from the other degenerated businessmen and executives who would position themselves as noble."

"My name, coincidentally, is Morgan and I unfortunately have no name to which to attribute a title."

Varina stared at the hand kiss rather than taking it graciously. She tried to smooth over her reaction, big smile as she wiped her hand off under the table.

"Oh I cannot stand those business folk who pretend to be noble." Technically she wasn't rich enough to fit that category! "But you're not noble? At least you are in demeanor, yes?"

She snorted softly "Never were cheap, cost an arm and a leg to stay stocked up. Though I suppose it usually costs the people I use them on at least as much so I guess its fair. I keep a little knife on me." She said raising the edge of her already short dress to reveal a sheathed knife against her pale leg before smoothing the dress down again "I know tonstick them with the pointy end but thats about as far as my hand to hand fighting goes. Typically if I have to use that its already a bad day."

"Afraid I'm just a plus one to someone else's plus one," he said, "playing the part a bit so that no one suspects I'm anyone worth bothering or looking down on. You see. Better to avoid their glares or judgement," he said with a little conspiratorial wink.

"Or a good day for someone like me," she replied with an amused chuckle, smirking slightly. Having helped herself to some of the fancy fingerfood, she sampled one in one go.

"Hmmm... not bad. But why are the portions so small?"
