Afternoon Blues [Day 2, Late Afternoon]

Post by Honor » Sat Jul 11, 2020 1:07 pm

A leery eyed Imperial officer grabs the arm of a young Twi'lek server. Saying all the kinds of things that would cause the young woman's face to contort in disgust. Turn paler at the simple suggestion of what he implied. It was not something the officer wanted to see. Infuriated, he raised his arm to strike her for her insolence as she recoiled in fear.

SMACK!!

The thud of flesh hitting flesh stopped all of the surrounding conversation. As the onlookers turned to see what happened. Laid out on the floor the Imperial officer looked up in bewilderment.

All eyes centered in on the lone human girl.

"S-someone stop that girl!" the Imperial shouted, looking around for anyone to come to his aid.

None of the patrons moved from their seat, save an older Twi'lek man who walked slowly up from behind.

Caught like a deer in headlights Jaina looked down at the Imperial, his nose bloodied and her hand throbbing a little. Thousands of thoughts rushed through her head, her blood pumped and her heart beat against her chest. Everyone was looking at her, like this was some kind of show. This wasn't some kind of show she should..

She should run, right, run.

Jaina quickly peeled off, almost knocking over a few patrons as she sprinted out a side-door and off into the streets alone.

"J-" Nerra stopped himself, held his throat tight. Shaking his head as he watched the girl rush off and nearly knock over a few patrons on her way out. Looking down at the Imperial he thought.

"I'm afraid I am far too old for such heroics anymore, my young friend," he said with a sly grin.

"My patrons as well, well, they appear rightfully shocked by what happened here."

"Yet you know her! You were about to say her name weren't you! I saw you go to call out to her!" he yammered, quickly righting himself to his feet as he wished not to suffer the indignity of being on the floor any longer.

"I'm afraid, my boy, that you are misguided. I was merely going to chase off the troublemaker that they didn't threaten my place of business any longer, you understand," he said, his tone easy.

Correcting his collar the Imperial glanced around the room, he found no friendly faces. "I will return here," he said, calming his voice into a menacing tone. "I shall return with officers from the security forces still stationed here. These officers are bound by the law, as are all of you. You will cooperate or.. be taken in," he glanced back at Nerra. Muttered something vile under his breath and spit on the floor before leaving.

"I will await my judgement here, then," he said, watching the officer go.

When he went some many of the patrons discovered a sudden urgent matter to attend to elsewhere. Many of them quickly got up and left, more than half at least paid respects to Nerra on the way out. All that remained were his staff, which he dismissed a few personally, and you..

Nerra looked to those who remained and waited by the central bar, where he walked around and began preparing drinks. Expecting whoever remained to come join him for a few.

This particular KSF medical officer was not in uniform. He had been drawn to Favna after duty by some fellow security forces for drinks. They knew what would be expected of them, and not all of them were pleased by the prospect. When they left and all said goodbye, probably going home to prepare for the next day, some likely to do some soul searching to find a way to deal with what they'd probably be called on to do, Tosath remained.

Nerra, likely being well connected to his community, probably recognized the doctor that worked for the KSF but spent a great deal of time volunteering at the shelter. When he approached the bar and sat down he nodded to the older twi'lek. "He's not wrong. KSF is bound by law to assist. But it's important to recognize that there are those that stay with the force to do what they can to protect the people and those that just want a paycheck and will follow orders to get it. Many of us still believe in what the force is supposed to stand for rather than what the Imperials are apparently trying to turn it into."

"I know son, I know," he says, smiling as he looked down into an empty glass. Filling it with something good, something normally reserved for top payers. Placing it in front of Tosath he smiled, "Sit a while son, we will have much to talk about," he says, hopeful as he looks to the next person who walks up.

''Oh, howdy!'' chimed a droid comming through the door, aiming for the bar. ''Good afternoon Mister Neera. This unit has come to pick up a few bottles of his boss's favorite liquid intoxicant.''

His lens's shutter openned and retracted has he looked around

''Your mercantile location is more quiet then usual.'' he observed out loud

This was a mistake. Getting involved would have repercussions. There could be consequences for others in the neighborhood. But, this was why Jaxom had stayed on Kamda, and why he visited Favna, to find and help those who needed it.

With a resigned sigh, he walked up to the others.

"Ahh," he smiled, "B-B0p, how are you doing today my friend?" he said, grabbing the requested box for the droid. Sliding it up onto the counter he leaned on it while he spoke, "Unfortunately, B-B0p, we have ourselves a little problem. Someone is in need of help and we're discussing how we can do our part."

Nerra gave Jaxom a look, and a knowing nod.

"What we're here to discuss..." he says, looking to those gathered, "is how to help a young girl who is in far too deep to help herself out. Though, maybe she'll figure she can. What I am asking, humbly, is that you lot find her and bring her somewhere safe. Then.." he sighs, "then we see about getting her off-world. I am afraid I know this officers type and he will inflate this problem until it ruins her chance at a life. I do not want that for her, she's always been a good sort. Honest and true."

"There is a hide-out, one I use frequently. We can bring her there," he said, picking up a glass from under the counter and cleaning it. Something the proper barman didn't get to do before Nerra told him to take the rest of the day off.

The doctor nods. "You live long enough and you see this too many times. I hope we can give this girl's story a happier ending than others I've seen."

He takes a sip of his drink. "I'm certainly no manhunter, but I can possibly see to making sure the sympathetic members of the KSF keep others busy and off her trail. Maybe talk to folks in the community that might know where she would hole up. Maybe we could find someone that could get her a message too if she's got friends that she'd trust to stay with right now."

"Unfortunately," he looks between them, "my plan will have to be to find her. There are a few I could think of where she could go for help but... She won't, she knows as well as we do what kind of trouble she's in."

"Best bet is that you lot follow her trail, talk with passerby who might have seen her or track her through the city. I'll try to get others to clean the trail behind you.. so you should start quickly," he said.

He nods at that, choosing not to finish his drink immediately. "Sorry to pass up the rest of this drink, but it seems an unnecessary risk at the moment if we have to act so soon. Did your folks see which direction she went after leaving the bar?"
