After Action Recuperation [D1 LM]

The morning had been full of healing and helping those in need. Usually he didn't eat at the homeless shelter, but he did today. Not their food, he had brought his own, since he had no intention of depleting the resources of this place that would go to those in need. But a few of the more prideful folks that lived in the slums were insistent that he take a few credits here and there. It didn't total much more than a meal, but he felt it was only right to share that meal with the people that had provided it.

He sat at one of the tables and broke bread with the folks that had only this place to call home. He wasn't homeless and everyone here knew it, but if any cared that he was eating with them, he didn't know it. It was important to him that they didn't see him as better than them for their situations. They needed to feel comfortable enough to ask for his help when they needed it. Back alley doctors were not necessarily reputable and sometimes lacked the medical resources and training he had and he preferred people to come to him rather than put themselves in debt to criminals to get the assistance of subpar doctors.

A ramshackle droid who might have been familiar to some in the area moved through the crowds with what looked like an old lunch box. It took a few moments but he finally managed to get in one of the lines to receive provisions.

He internally processed the way he'll have to administer the nutrients to his boss.

The droid getting food was curious. He'd seen him in here before doing so, but never talked to him. He was usually busy doing medical stuff. Today, he had a bit more free time on his hands though, so he approached. He wondered who the droid was getting food for. "Hello there. I'm Doctor Nazora. Would you mind if I asked a few questions?"

He stood next to the droid in line, moving with it as the line moved.

Bebop jerked to attention when the white hair human spoke to him, registering his profession.

''Oh! Howdy doctor. This unit is Prospectron B-B0p. Please proceed with your questions.''

He smiled at the droid's rural affectation. "I imagine you're collecting food for a local to help care for them?"

The droid stood still before replying, the only movement being the shutter of his central lens contracting and retracting.

''Quite true Doctor Nazora. This nutriments are gathered for this unit's boss's consumption.''

[Tosath Nazora]

Nodding, he continues. "Are they not collecting for themself because they are busy or because they are incapable?"

''Affirmative.'' he said ''This unit's boss is unable to come pick up or construct nutrition due to unkown medical reasons.''

[Tosath Nazora]

"Well, I spend a good amount of my free time here helping folks with medical concerns. If your boss can't visit due to medical reasons I could visit them. I don't charge for my assistance, just have limited time and resources."

The droid was silent for a second, processing the situation

''You do not charge? This is highly unusual''

[Tosath Nazora]

"I have a day job working for the Kamda Security Force. I took the day off to take part in the event earlier, but most days I'd be at my office right now. I get paid a fair wage for my medical skills, but I do additional volunteer work to help people outside of my normal work hours."

''Oh! Wonderful!''

Bebop replied as cheerfully as he could

''Help would be greatly appreciated my good sir! Feel free to come at anytime!''

[Tosath Nazora]

"Just give me the location and I'll stop by soon as I can," he says with a nod. "I'll try to do so tomorrow."

''But of course! Here is this unit's commlink number. Please call before coming because this unit's boss can be difficult.'' he said flashing a number

[Tosath Nazora]

"I'll be sure to do so. I've had plenty of argumentative patients. Not everyone enjoys a doctor's help even when they know they need it."

''This unit's boss used to be a hard worker and not being to perform at reasonnable efficiency damaged his self esteem'' he clarified

"It's not an uncommon thing among hardworking people. Age catches up to them a little quicker too since they usually push their bodies more in their youth," Tosath says with a nod. "I'll probably feel pretty bad when my hands are no longer steady enough to do medical work in the future."

''This unit is a droid, this unit could juast change hands''

he tilted his head

''But this unit understand that organics are much more fragile''

"Not all of us," he says with a chuckle. "Many on my world choose to use cybernetic enhancements. There are some species that do so even more frequently. Makes us a bit tougher, and allows us to change parts. But nothing lives forever, not even droids. For example, calculate the odds that you'll end up having an accident that leads to full system failure over the next thousand years based on the damage you've received over your current lifespan. You'll probably find it's a near inevitability. Even an organic that could continue to regenerate without cellular decay would have the same issue. Entropy simply doesn't accept any form of immortality. Fragility is always relative."

''This unit was made to endure by this unit's maker.'' the reply bare a tone similar to outrage ''The maker did not make this unit fragile relative to anything. She was a good maker and made this unit to assist this unit's boss.''
