What's up boss? (D1 LA closed)

[Leah kuso]

Leah didn't know why, but she had a feeling that something was wrong. Something in her gut, or somewhere else, told her that things were not changing for the better. Although the saying is about always starting at home, her two room apartment hadn't caught fire or got any new issues, so the next closest place was her place of work; the club.

If there's something up with Vex I can usually tell, and she did seem distracted lately.

She entered the club, which was really empty at this time of day (unsurprisingly), and taking a moment started to look for the boss.

Vex was in her office as always, seeming to be on holo-call with some nondescript being as the height of the window from where she stood didn't reveal much. Between the two of them was only one obstacle, and that was Mallory, don't say her name, who stood outside Vex's door diligently. Sending off another one of the suits, Vex's bodyguards, to deal with some problem or another.

Beyond that, the houselights were on and the club was empty. Staff all over was preparing for the night ahead.

[Leah kuso]

There was little point trying to dodge the guards. Even if she could, she'd just get in trouble when she tried to speak with Vex. So, the direct approach! Leah approached with a smile.

"Yo. How's it going?" she said to the guard.

[Mallory]

Mallory looked at her with only the smallest of quirked brows. "Are you here to see Vex?" she asked flatly.

[Leah kuso]

As friendly as always...

"I am indeed" Leah nodded "is she busy?"

[Mallory]

"Always," she said. With a flick of her hand she indicated for Leah to raise, "Arms up, out. Bosses orders."

[Leah kuso]

This is new...

"Got it. New security procotol?" Leah spread out her arms, still keeping her friendly tone and posture. She had nothing to hide.

[Mallory]

Mallory didn't answer, she felt it was obvious. Stepping forward she thoroughly frisked Leah. Any weapons or things that could be used as weapons were removed for the time being and held by Mallory. Otherwise, Mallory makes a restrictive judgement on the item if it could potentially pose a threat and removes these from Leah as well.

[Please notify me if she attempts to conceal anything.]

Leah had on what she always had on; her clothes, her comm-link and the odd hilt-thing she seemed to carry around. All taken away which was fine. The girl wouldn't dare try to hide anything.

"I don't think I've ever said before that I admire you Mallory."

[Mallory]

Mallory didn't respond, didn't seem to acknowledge Leah said anything at all. Settling affairs with the items she'd removed she waited, checked in, and then opened the door for Leah to enter.

Once Leah passed into the room with Vex, just as she'd turned away from Mallory, she heard the woman simply utter "Good," from behind her. Then shut the door that she might maintain the security of the location.

Mallory might just be more terrifying than Vex Leah thought to herself as the door was shut. She didn't often go into this office, she had not so fond memories of her debt reminders. Vex was the total opposite of Leah in many ways.

The Twi'lek stayed quiet and waited for Vex to finish her call, not daring to interrupt the woman.

[Vex]

... get it done," Vex ended the call as Leah entered. Standing over her glass desk with a half empty glass of some exotic wine sat beside her hand. Snatching it up she took a long sip from it, sat with the flavor. As she did her shoulders relaxed then straightened to a proper stance.

Turning, the woman regarded Leah for a silent moment and then said, "Is there something you need from me, dear?" she asked, faux sweetly.

[Leah kuso]

Leah had a few ways to approach this in her mind. There was subtle, or just being nice, or...

"...What's wrong?"

...the direct approach it seemed was the one that came out first.

[Vex]

Vex regarded Leah, wondered, and then stepped forward and down a step that they were more eye to eye. Looking directly ahead, into her eyes, Vex made a measure of the woman as best as she could, "Are you truly so concerned, sweet-thing?" she smiled, briefly.

"I would not expect you not to notice things have been.. tense, of late. However, that is the price of conducting business. Things sometimes just get.. tense."

[Leah kuso]

Leah nodded as Vex approached.

"I am concerned. I understand business can be tense, but...I've felt like something bigger is happening, and I don't know what. Like, a gut feeling that something is wrong."

There was the briefest pause before she added "is there anything I can do?"

[Vex]

"Oh Leah," she sighed lightly. Stepping forward she placed a hand on the girls cheek. "You are such a wonderful little thing. So sweet, but no.. not yet. Tomorrow I am to have a an uncomfortable negotiation and settle accounts. After that.." she looked elsewhere, took her hand back and walked back toward her desk. Heels clicking against the ground, "We will see."

[Leah kuso]

Leah felt like saying 'I'm not a child anymore!' but held it back. Vex knew what she was doing...right?

"Ok" the Twi'lek nodded after a few moments "I know you're good, and anything being thrown at you will get dealt with pretty quickly. If not then the scary woman at the door can do it" she thumbed in the direction of where she knew Mallory would be standing "but if trouble is gonna be rolling into the club well...I'll do my best."

[Vex]

"I trust you will, dear," she said with a thoughtful smile. Moving back around her desk she sat down, looking at the screen beside her as a thought hit her. Thinking on it, passing it around in her head, she looked back at Leah. Uncertain, but willing to risk always she said, "Leah, dear. Come by, tomorrow. There is something I wish for you to see. Tell Mallory on the way out, won't you?"

[Leah kuso]

"Oh, sure thing!" Leah nodded, looking to the door then back at Vex. "What time?"

[Vex]

Checking a clock, her computer, she looked back, "Same as now."
