Hello Governor (D1 EE)

[Lassa Tenro]

Lassa's footsteps echoed down the empty and pristine hallway. She received a notification from the governor asking for her to come by his office before she left work for the day. She approached the door and knocked gently before waiting to here a response...

[Honor]

There was a loud, albeit muffled, knock against hardwood from inside. That was the usual method in how he signaled it was alright for whomever to enter, a man not caring for the answering of doors personally. When she would enter she would find Talcik sitting at his desk with the chair turned fully around that he was looking out over the city.

Pondering.. pondering..

[Lassa Tenro]

Lassa closed the door quietly behind her and walked up until she was a short distance away.

After a few moments of silence she spoke a single word of inquiry in a kind tone, "Sir?"

[Viktor Talcik]

"What do you think of the state of Kamda today, our planet, the people," he asked, his hand held to his jaw as he continued to regard the city.

"From my perspective I..." he shook his head slightly, held his tongue. "Please, continue," he said.

[Lassa Tenro]

"I'm not sure I'm fully able to make an accurate assessment... There is hardship in some sectors. Hardship engenders animosity." She paused.

"I see a planet which is on the mend. Making improvements... willingly or otherwise." She then waited for the governor to continue.

[Viktor Talcik]

Talcik sighed, laying his arm out on the arm of his chair. Lifting himself from the support of it he walks to the window and looks out over the city.

"I see a people which does not understand the situation that we are in. What we must do, and how we must act, so that we can full our mending of these old wounds," he said.

Turning from the window he placed a hand on his desk, facing Lassa. "Forgive me, if this appears invasive. Yet, would you tell me of the time you spend when you do not work here? Do you have family, friends? Do the people still enjoy the simple pleasures of conversation over a meal?"

[Lassa Tenro]

She nodded sympathetically with him as he gave his assessment. Then shook her head gently.

“Not much of an exciting life I’m afraid. Family and friends are elsewhere. I mostly just go home and listen to music or watch something on the holly before retiring.”

She paused, “Are you asking me if I’d like to go for dinner?”

[Viktor Talcik]

Viktor's eyes grew dim, furrowed brows as he heard the words and processed only for them to grow a bit wider. Shaking his head he raised a hand in apology, "No, no.. I am, sorry if I was misunderstood. I merely meant to question if you knew what it was like. If you saw better than I what the people's lives were like. I did not mean to suggest something that would be so inappropriate."

[Lassa Tenro]

She tilted her shoulders ever so slightly to the right and answered, “I know you to be an honorable man, sir. I wouldn’t think to take such a question as something inappropriate.”

She stepped forward towards the window and looked out over the view, “I enjoy a good meal on occasion. When time and funds allow for such a thing. I too am one of the ‘people’, familiar with the toils of such a life.”

[Viktor Talcik]

Talcik turned with her, regarded her for a moment. Looking down his brow furrowed, he pulled his hands behind his back and took a confident stance.

"Do you know what the people think of me, Ms. Tenro?" he asked.

[Lassa Tenro]

“Your popularity is diminishing in certain sectors... We have the data. But I assume you mean something else?” She replied.

[Viktor Talcik]

"Numbers they.." he grimaced, "they tell much, but they don't tell me what's important. How do the people feel, what do they think? What kind of man do they believe me to be? My advisors tell me that I should not walk among them for fear of my safety, and I regret to admit that I trust their opinion. Yet, how else am I to know what the people I have been charged with think of me?"

[Lassa Tenro]

“Find people you can trust. One’s who know the great man you are and can gather the information you are seeking.” She replied.

[Viktor Talcik]

"Few have such schedules but.." he paused, looked to Lassa. "Would you do this for me, Ms. Tenro? I would pay you overtime for your service, of course. I find.. I find I am robbed of the access to my people of which any governor should possess and strive for. Perhaps through you I might connect to them."

[Lassa Tenro]

She paused for a moment and slowly nodded, "I can do what I can. Where is it you would like me to focus my attentions? There are many people... all with different needs and wants. Where should I begin?"

[Viktor Talcik]

"Daily I am beset by the needs of those who rise above the masses," he says, sighing. "If you must focus.. focus on those that I have no ability to seek myself, or to understand. I was a rich man before I was a governor and the poor among the slums have often not received my attention. Regretfully, it is only now as a Governor, with my hands largely tied by circumstance, that these people come to my attention."

"I believe it is from them I could learn something," he said.

[Lassa Tenro]

"I will do my best, sir." She said with a nod.

[Viktor Talcik]

"Thank you," he said, looking out over the city once more. Speeders moving along ground streets toward their destinations, the view unobstructed by traffic, there was a calming quality to the life outside of a mega-city that was worth enjoying.

Moving from the window, "That will be all for today, Ms. Tenro. Thank you," he said, sitting back at his desk.
