[D2EA] Lunch Show

[Manny Donos]

"Thank you, thank you. I'll be here... uh..." Manny checked one of the two watches on his wrist. "A little while, anyway. Tip your servers. That guy." He pointed.

With that, shaking his head, Manny stepped down from the little stage, making his way over to the bar. Lunch shows were never very good. There just weren't that many people, and those that there were tended to be quiet.

He sat at a stool. It was definitely time for a break, at least.

[Leah kuso]

Leah had heard about the magic show. The girls at Lux talked about the magician boy who kept coming to the club, but Leah had never seen him. She decided to check out his act, and found it interesting.

He's an odd one, but he knows what he's doing.

As he took a break, she watched him drop down and remembered that feeling from her own shows. Getting two glasses of water, she approached the man and said simply "maybe you should make this water disappear" with a smile, offering him a glass "it'll help with the rest of the day."

[Manny Donos]

"Phew!" Manny grinned, taking the glass from her. "Thanks. I wish I knew some water-disappearing magic, but I'm gonna have to get rid of it the old-fashioned way." He took a deep drink.

Manny grinned. "Of course, I have to give you something in return." With a dramatic flourish, he produced a flower as if from nowhere (actually his sleeve, of course), offering it to her with a smile.

Even as he did so, his brow furrowed, just a little. This girl looked really familiar...

[Leah kuso]

"Aww, what a sweetie" Leah gave the man a sweet smile "how did you do that?"

She accepted the flowers, taking a small sniff of them, before speaking again.

"I bet you offer flowers to all the cute girls" she winked at him.

[Manny Donos]

The flower was a little flattened, and slightly dry, but not too bad. It still had a pleasant scent.

Manny grinned. "Hey, a magician never reveals his secrets. And not all the cute girls. I only carry two or three at a time."

Still smiling, he offered a hand. "Hey. I'm Manny."

[Leah kuso]

"Hmm? Is that so...I wonder what it would take for someone to learn how to magic like you" Leah looked at the man with a curious expression, before offering her hand and shaking his. "I'm Leah. Lovely to meet you Manny! I've heard your name around, but never had a chance to see your performance before now. Gotta say I'm impressed."

[Manny Donos]

Manny chuckled. "Hey, if you've got the gift for it, you just gotta practice. If you want, maybe sometime I could show you something. I mean... not one of my really good ones, but something."

His expression brightened further. "Yeah? Hey, that's great, thanks. It was good to have someone in the audience having a good time."

His smile turned a bit rueful. "Leah... do I know you from somewhere? You look really familiar." Manny was spending his time at Lux trying to get in to see Vex... but his gaze would often be on the dancers as he walked through. He was a human male, after all.

[Leah kuso]

"I'll take you up on that offer. We'll have to meet up sometime so you can teach me" Leah grinned "sounds like fun!"

She paused, thoughtfully, before going "ah! I know, you've been to Lux a lot right? I work there as a dancer."

[Manny Donos]

"Yeah, okay!" Manny nodded enthusiastically. "Huh... maybe come by sometime before one of my shows? If you're good, I can work you into the act!"

Enlightenment lit in Manny's eyes. "Oh yeah..." His smile turned a bit sheepish. "Yeah, I go there a fair bit. Probably saw Mallory throw me out a few times, huh?" He winced, rolling his right shoulder a bit.

"So... you work for Vex? What's that like?"

[Leah kuso]

"Ooh, that would be fun. Whens your next show? Is it same time every day? I'll have to come along this kinda time tomorrow then" Leah smirked, then laughed "ah, yeah. Mallory is a bit of a brute sometimes huh? But she's got a really important job so I get it. Vex is...scary in her own way, but the club is pretty cool. I quite enjoy dancing, and the outfits are nice, although the staring can be awkward sometimes I guess. Not that you would do that, right?" she winked.

[Manny Donos]

"Who, me?" Manny said innocently, spreading his hands. He was... medium convincing.

He shrugged. "I've got a few that I do. The evening one's better, if you wanna try that. More pressure, though." He gave her a thoughtful look. "If you could wear that sparkly top you've got, that'd be perfect.

A pause.

Manny coughed. "I mean, if you've got a sparkly top, that would be perfect." What could he say? The dancer's outfits were pretty nice. From a fashion standpoint.

[Leah kuso]

"My dancers attire huh?" Leah said with a grin "it made that much of an impact huh. Fine, I'll have it on. I hope I can impress then, don't want to ruin the great Manny the magicians show."

[Manny Donos]

Manny spread his arms. "Hey, what can I say? I'm an observant guy." He said, grinning.

The grin became a trifle more serious... or at least less silly. "But I bet you'd be good at it. Really, magic is just playing the audience, misdirection, and agility." One eyebrow went up. "How close do you think you get to all of that from dancing?"

[Leah kuso]

"Honestly? I'd say I'm pretty much an expert in that regard" Leah said with a smile "dancing on stage is all about the audience. Drawing their attention where you want it to be, and keeping it exactly where you need it. If that's all there is to magic then I think I could do a pretty good job. Or at least play the part of a glamorous assistant."

[Manny Donos]

Manny beamed at her. "Exactly! You'd be perfect. Now, we've just got to figure out some illusions for you to be part of."

"Hmmm..." Manny murmured, stroking his chin as he studied her. "How do you feel about being cut in half?"

[Leah kuso]

"It's in my top five things to never ever experience in life. Right up there with being shot at, stabbed, burnt and thrown off a building" Leah said with a tilt of her head "why do you ask?"

[Manny Donos]

Manny laughed softly. "Yeah, okay, good point. How do you feel about appearing to be cut in half?"

[Leah kuso]

"Is this one of the magic tricks?" Leah looked interested "how does it work? I'm totally up for being part of a magic trick!"

[Manny Donos]

Manny smirked, raising one eyebrow. "It's easy. You just need to be flexible." He frowned. "But you need a double for that one. Someone with legs that look just like yours. That makes it a bit harder."

He looked thoughtfully at her again. "There's the mental bond ones. Where you-" he made air quotes, "-read my thoughts. Those can be pretty good, especially if you're good at acting?" His eyebrows went up inquisitively.

[Leah kuso]

"Read your thoughts? Like that one about how you thought I had nice thighs?" Leah said with a small smirk on her face "or should I stick to simple ones like how you forgot breakfast today?"

She had no idea if those were true, but if they were it would be funny to see his reaction.
