A pirate's life for me [D1, MA]

Home to Nerra, the bar owner whom many have come to know for his hospitality. Drinks are served here for individuals of most species, weapons are checked at the door and hostilities don't enter with you.

A pirate's life for me [D1, MA]

Post by Roxi » Wed Jul 08, 2020 8:55 pm

It was early, but that never seemed to deter certain kinds of crowds from getting their drink on. Galaxy-wide constant; people wanted their alcohol, and they liked their dens of inequity. Precisely the sort of place that Roxi needed to be. Of course, she was a little on the young side for a human. She *could* be eighteen, or she could be below the drinking age. And she did have a vibroknife tucked away underneath her jacket.

Regardless, she went up to the entrance, hoping to get inside and find someone who might know a thing or two about what and who she was looking for.

At the door she found a being with a gun strapped to his hip sitting in a chair, but beside that nothing of note happened. Except maybe a glance from the man, looking at her from under the brim of his hat. Though he didn't seem to care much who or what she was, just that she kept the peace and offered no words when she'd move to enter.

Inside there was a rush of the mixed culture of a cantina. Different beings from many walks of life mingled and dealt business. Surely there would be someone in here who could help her, or perhaps the very person she's looking for.

Now this was her kind of place. She'd take her time, looking over the day-crowd with the faint hope that she'd just *see* who she was looking for right there out in the open. Assuming that wasn't the case, however, she started making inquiries.

"Hey, have you seen anyone around that kind of looks like..."

"You hear anything about someone looking like..."

"Revenants rule! You hear anything about them?"

And so on, and so on...

At the first question they immediately shoved passed her without even seeming to hear what she said. The next looked at her with a stone-like expression until she left. For the third they simply shook their head. However, luck would finally ring out at the last and a Weequay in a small flat-cap turned about in his chair.

"Did you say.. Revenants?" he asked, his smirk growing toward the right.

"That's right," she in turn, turned to the weequay who had turned to her. "You got a problem with that?"

She didn't *seem* to be trying to intimidate him, despite the question. She had a rather friendly smile on her face, in fact. "What have you heard?"

"P-problem!?" he said, shocked. Appalled. Flabbergasted even! That she could even think of such a thing was the most outrageous thing in the world, surely! "Why no! In fact, I am good friends with some of them myself. Spoken to them quite recently, I might add. Why, do you have a problem with that? Friends?" he gasped, brought a hand to his mouth, "Foes?"

His response was quite confusing to her, but he *did* say he was good friends with them and had spoken to them recently so... she wasn't sure if that was legit or not, but it was the only lead she had so far.

"Wait, what? No! I don't... look, I heard one of them was on Kamda, would that be the one you spoke to? I need to find them."

"Friend then!" he exclaimed brightly, but then turned in darkly, "Or foe," he laughed heartily, "Either way, Vabian can help you! I have spoken to one of these Revenents recently, good man.. good man.. broke another mans jaw RIGHT in front of me if you believe it. Just, he wasn't on Kamda. Not that I think anyway?" he shook his head.

"I can take you to him, if you like? Good place, bit of a secret though.." he nudges her with an elbow. "You won't tell though, right? Pirate's honor?"

She could believe someone on the crew breaking someone's jaw. But what he was saying was still confusing her.

"He wasn't on Kamda, but you can take me to him? What? How does *that* work? This isn't going to take like a week to hop across the galaxy, right?"

Vabian leaned in close, glanced around as discreetly as possible and then leaned in again, his breath a little warm from the drinking. "On the moon," he leaned back to cackle a bit. "Big base... settlement? Vabian does not know the right term for it. But there is a place! For people like me.. your Revenant friends, and you? Yes? You would like to go to this place? I have a ship! I could take you.. tomorrow? Or today.. later? Soon!"

"Today? I don't know... I'd planned on going salvaging after this..."

She considered it. And him. Because this seemed fishy. But also, she had no reason to suspect things were fishy. But they still seemed fishy.

"And how do I know you're legit? Who is your friend with the Revenants? The one you spoke to?"

"Vabian.." he thought, shrugged, "does not know, but you and Vabian are friends, no? Vabian does not yet know your name! Still.. if friend is not who Vabian believes, it is still a good place to look! Don't you think!" he said with some gusto.

"Well, that seems fair," she said, "But just so you know... I don't have any credits or valuables, so there's no point in trying to lure me to a lifeless moon to rob me or anything."

"Friend! If Vabian was going to rob you, you'd already be robbed!" he said, laughing boisterously.

"If you'd have already robbed me, I'd have already stabbed you!" She said, laughing briefly in the same manner because that was apparently the thing to do. "But seriously, tomorrow? You have a ship, yes?"

"Of course! Vabian has a wonderful ship! Vabian will wait for you, come whenever you like, but soon. Vabian doesn't like to wait if he doesn't have to, but Vabian would also do anything for a friend. Vabian trusts you will not let him down, yes?" he said happily.

"Well, like I said, I already had plans for today. I don't know how long that would take. I probably won't be back till somewhere in the evening, and I have no idea how long this excursion to the moon would last."

"Vabian understands!" he said, clapping his hand on her shoulder and smiling widely. "Just do not keep Vabian waiting if he does not need to be, yes? Whenever you are done come see Vabian and he will bring you to this place!"

"At the spaceport friend!" he said cheerfully, rattling off the actual designation of the hanger at that point for her to remember for later.
