Watching and Waiting (Day 8 Late Morning)

Vince watched the streets from the roof of the tenement apaartment building he lived in, the door up here was supposed to be locked but as was the way with such things someone had jimmed the lock years ago, and left it open. The land lord was just too lazy to come up to the top floor and lock it again.

He'd taken to keeping his siblings home from school, things were tense after all, and being on the streets didn't seem the wisest course of action at least when it could be avoided. Not that such stopped everyone as there was a steady stream of traffic on the streets below. Work was going to be hard to come by wiht things liek this, and it was likely he'd have to try his hand at more illegal activites, or find a way to leave home with his siblings, somethign he wasn't sure he had the money for anyways.

Varina was here to post up shop too, though she certainly didn't know who this fellow delinquent was. "Hey," she called out, "What are you doing here?" Her tone was a bit confrontational, as if this was her turf, but also... playful? She wasn't going to commit to being a total doofus just yet.

"Hrm?" He turned to face the young woman on his turf, or at least that's how he thoguht of it. The rooftops aroudn here were his terrain of choice after all. "Just watching the people out in all this mess...."

"Who's asking?" He added, perhaps a bit confrontainoal as well.

"Varina Ordo," she announced, hoping that the clan name would strike fear into the guy's heart. But maybe he didn't know about Mandalorian clans. "I'm a Mandalorian, no big deal."

"Huh." That was likely supposed to mean something to him, but Vince's education was questionable at the best of times.

"That's pretty cool, think I 've seen stuff about them in vids a time or two. Guys flyign around with jetpacks and armor and all that."

He looekd her ver for a moment. "Do you have one? A jetpack that is."

"Yeah, the guys with the jetpacks and armor." Varina paused and then shook her head. "But being a Mandalorian means more than that. It means being the greatest warriors in the whole galaxy!"

He guessed that meant she didn't have a jetpack, still that didn't matter much.

"Oh? That's pretty cool! You go around fighting bad guys or something then? Maybe taking out some of the thugs around town or the Imps?" Maybe she was up here spying?

"Yeah! We fight for honor and glory." Well, and money but that didn't sound so good. "I've killed... Three people!" She was pretty sure about that number.

"Wow." That seemed like quite a few people to have killed at least to Vince. "Why did you kill them then? Were they bad guys or something gettign in the way of your honor?" Honor was somethign of a vague concept to him, and he mostly figured it meant not cheating people out of their cut. So could be she had been cheated by someone?

"They were bad guys. I got paid to do it, really," Varina admitted, "But I did it for my honor. Or something." She wasn't entirely certain about the prospect herself.

"Killing bad people sounds like honorable business." Vicne agreed with a nod, I mean the Mandolorian seemed to think it was at least, and that worked for him. The money part made it seem like mercanary work, but then he wasn't too much of an expert on Mandowhatever culture so maybe it was different,

"That what you are doing up here then, looking for a bad guy to take out?"

"Nope. Just felt like hanging out, watching people, until I found one a bit closer than usual." Varina tilted her head. "You live here?"

"Yeah, a few floors down." It wasn't the best place around but it was affordable at least. "You live close by?" He didn't recall seeign her in the building before but she could be new, or they had just missed eachother."

"Nope. Well, depends what you consider close-by." Varina then shrugged. "Well, guess I haven't been 'home' much either. Been more of the wandering sort for... the last couple of weeks, really." It sounded cooler in her head at first...

That sounded a lot like she was homeless, but that was likely not the case. Mandowhatever chics likely weren;t the type to be homeless, especially when she was paid to kill people or whatever. Which sounded rather dangerous now that he considered it

"Oh, traveling the planet then? Seeing the sights?" Not that there was all that many to see.

"In a way," Varina said, hiding the part that her goal was to simply hide from responsibility, "This planet has been... quite the experience. You're from here, though? That'd be my guess."

"Yup, lived in this city my whole life." Which really wasn't anything to brag about. "It's a bit dull most days, but it has it's good points as well." Though at the moment they were hard to name. "Quite the experience though? Does that mean you don't like it here?"

"Yeah, I guess I don't like it here," Varina admitted, "No offense to your home." Then she gave a wink. "Maybe if you left, you'd end up liking any other place more than here."

"Maybe?" HE had been pondering leaving after all. "But could be I end up liking it worse as well, from what I hear there are some pretty nasty places out there after all." He looked her over for a moment. "You sound like you have traveled a bit though, and place you really like?"

"Home was fine, when I was there," Varina admitted, "Kind of torn apart by war but... It was still home."
