Bread Basket [Day 1, Event]
Posted: Wed Jul 08, 2020 12:45 pm
Event Type: Simple
Participants: All
Timeslot: EM-LA, Pick a pair of consecutive Timeslots.
Among the people of Kamda there are those who go hungry, unable to feed themselves because their ability to achieve gainful employment under the Empire was limited to such a point as to no longer be possible. Those who find themselves in the slums are many, and many would have been here without the increasing taxes of the Empire, however they have been joined by many more who have. These people need help, there is no question of that, the Empire has failed them and cast them aside.
However, the people of Kamda need not.
Event:
Organized by Deera, the former mayor of Kamda and leader of the people, there are many gathering just inside the slums in Kamda's lower residential district. Here, they gather to give out what food they can to the people. However, they need help. Food is expensive, and vast quantities of it, those needed to fill a small districts worth of people, is enough to break the bank of even one of those found in the Upper-class Residences.
All results of this event will grant advantage to the Militant Faction.
Feed the People:
There are many options, many paths, that one may take to aid the endeavors of those who feed the people of Kamda. Which way do you choose?
(Clarification: Roll only one)
Legal Checks made at Average: [2 Purple]
Survival:
Hunters and gatherers, those in tune with the natural world may make use of their skills to gather foodstuffs outside of Kamda city and in the surrounding areas. Working to supply what they can, either a hunted beast or enough berries to fill up a basket in a few hours time. It may not be a lot, but it will feed some and the food will be guaranteed to satisfy.
Piloting Planetary:
Though it may not contribute food directly, the lending of skilled work by driving a truck to pick up and deliver food stuffs may allow resources that would otherwise be largely wasted on the necessary task of getting the food delivered to be used elsewhere.
Medicine:
Doctors are needed everywhere, in the slums even more so. These people here are certainly not visiting any doctors office very often. There is plenty of work that could be done for these people, perhaps even lives that could be saved. At least, at the very least, lives could definitely be improved.
Negotiation:
Bargaining with local merchants may influence some to support their fellow man out of their own stock. Merchants, by their nature, are reluctant to part with their goods but the people of Kamda are a good sort, sometimes they just need a little talking up to remind them of that. Giving them or convincing them of a good reason on why it would benefit them in the long run? Well, that's just good business.
Leadership:
Seeing people lending a hand does wonders to make passerby want to help out too, but a leader? Well, a leader inspiring the passing masses to come and do their part makes them feel good about helping out before they've even begun. Gathering a small crowd of all too eager helpers!
Charm:
Convincing well off individuals to make donations to the cause would go a long way to bankrolling the endeavor. Allowing more food and supplies to be purchased.
Illegal Checks are made with Average Rolls with an Upgrade: [1 Purple, 1 Red]
Coercion:
There are many rich folk in Kamda, not a lot, but enough. They got there because they're tight with their purse strings and horde ridiculous amounts of credits despite their neighbors around them falling into despair. It was high time these people invested in the future of Kamda, for once.
Computers:
Computer systems are always vulnerable, if you know what you're doing. Perhaps a shipment accidentally gets redirected and lost somewhere in the slums? That'd be a real shame. All that food, those potential profits, lost in the slums. Real shame.
Deception:
They're making an investment. They don't need to know what it's really for. You didn't really lie, right? Benefiting the people of Kamda benefits everyone in the end. Sometimes people don't want to give away their credits to a worthy cause, more wanting to use it to invest further in their own future for better or worse. Certainly, this money could be put to better use.
Results:
Success' and failed rolls will be noted for the support during the event. Boosts, setbacks, triumphs, and potential despairs will all be dealt with on a case by case basis. All results gain support for the Militant Faction, just how much? This is an introductory event to the Tug of War between the two ideologies, don't fret the results so much.
