Somewhere in or near the slums; one might find something akin to a junkyard/garbage dump. Hell, there were probably a few such places around; proper trash-compacting/recycling facilities likely weren't high up on the list of amenities to be provided to the poorest of the poor areas of the city, after all. One of the piles of junk and trash shook about for a while as the sound of something or someone rummaging through it echoed against the other junk piles, before a head popped out.



"Oh yes, Utinni! Who would throw out a perfectly good hydro-spoon like this? Oh. It's dented, that's why. Damn."

Back in she went for another few seconds, to rummage some more; fishing out some pretty useless sprockets and bolts. Maybe she could sell them for some creds though.

Deciding she'd had enough, she surfed her way down to the bottom of the heap and headed back to the street; where slightly less desperate or crazy sentients might be found walking by just in time to notice the young human trying and failing to sneak away unseen.

As the streets grew closer there was another rumble comming from a neighboring pile. As the dishwashers, crashed jet-bikes and one old astromech tumbled down the mount another droid, a working one it seemed, walked out.

''Ghastly place'' it commented to himself while moving closer, noticing the stranger

''Howdy!''

Her head craned about to look at where the greeting had come from, and then her eyes turned into saucers, as she fast-walked her way over to inspect "her salvage".

"A working droid! Lucky find! I never had a droid of my own!"

She bent down to inspect the joints. "Needs a little adjustment here. Maybe some modification over here. Could use new servos."

Roxi straightened her back again, looking at the droid's face now. "What's your designation?"

B-B0p tilted it's head to signify confusion at the strange woman inspecting him

''Excuse me? Firstly this unit does not think the astromech is in working condition so this unit think you'll have to wait to posess a droid.''

His lens readjusts

''Secondly this unit is in peak working condition! My maker was a very skilled craftsmen I'll have you know''

"Not him," she said, continuing her inspection, "*you*. You were clearly abandoned here a long time ago, right? Look at all this rust. Now why would someone just throw you out? I mean, not answering questions is a problem, but that could probably be fixed with a memory wipe if they cared enough to fix it. Same for the faulty self-diagnostic. You're obviously not in peak working condition."

She started going through her bag, pulling out several bits and pieces that looked like they could serve as replacement parts for various elements of the droid's chassis, holding them up against the droid as she was already mentally working on 'upgrading' him.

"Don't worry though, I won't memory wipe you. Factory-setting droids are pretty boring anyhow."

Solork trundles up to the junkyars. He lets out a sigh, heavy with mechanical synth. "Do you have any mini repulsor parts? My arm needs a tune up"

''Whaaaaaaaaaaaaa?''

B-B0p's jaw dropped in shock on the stranger's head with an audible *thuck*

''This unit as not been thrown away! This unit as been searching for parts for the boss!'' he exclaimed as he picked his jaw back up before raising his chestpiece to show pride

''This unit may be a bit rusty but that is this unit's charm. All of this unit's useful pieces are in working order!''

She barely even noticed the thunk on her head. "Are you *suuure* you've already got an owner? How could you look the way you do and have an owner? Even a jawa wouldn't sell you in this state," she shook her head. There went her free droid.

But then! Along came another droid... she looked over to the mechanical voice that asked for repulsor parts, only to discover it wasn't a droid at all. Immediately her enthusiasm dipped a little, if only for a moment.

"Oh... no, I don't have any of those. But... do you want to buy a dented hydrospoon?"

The lens rolled on it's axis 360 degrees as the droid modulated a sigh

''This unit is quite insulted. This unit and it's owner are not wealthy and must manage to live in these trying times. Since prospection is more difficult one must focus on what is most needed and this unit's vanity is not that''

"That's a shame. I will continue to search." Solork listens to the small Droid rant.

"Are you looking for a mechanic, my synthetic friend? I confess a lack of aesthetic capacity but few have complained over my repairs." Solork inclines his head. "Though many include myself and those who find me off-putting, so that may skew the data."

"Hey!" She said, seemingly a little offended. "*I'm* a mechanic! He already has one!"

Solork slowly turns his head, servos whining slightly at the movement. "My pardon. Though, I do believe that it is the inorganics choice and you seemed to insult them. I am poor at reading such situations.

"W-what?" she seemed taken aback by that. "I wasn't insulting them! I was just pointing out they're in bad shape! I mean, it's not an insult if it's true! Right?"

Solork offers a shrug. "If it makes you feel better, this one seems to cause offense without meaning to all the time. Strangely, often at cantinas, where a bunch of humans are liqoured up and saying that they don't like me." Solork repeats the gesture. "I'm not saying all humans, but it does happen a lot"

The droid kept glancing between the two

''Just who are you people?''

"Well, that's a pretty weird thing to ask for a droid that didn't give its designation when asked," she said, "But I'm Roxi. I'm a... I'm a mechanic."

She almost said something else.

"I am Solork Tan. I am...also a mechanic. Other things too, I suppose." There is a near identical pause to Roxi, causing Solork to examine the other human. The mask face pauses, eye swiveling in the open hole before Solork nods.

I can appreciate a similar silence

''This unit did not give it's designation because this unit is wary of strange women inspecting it out of the blue!'' he retorted defensively ''And this unit must make clear that this unit takes great comfort in the pause you both people took before guessing your professions.'' B-B0p shook his head along with a modulated sigh ''This unit advises more certainty next time that question is answered''

''This unit happens to be Prospectron B-B0p designed for, you guessed it, prospection. The locals call this unit 'Bebop' and this unit accomodates the familiarity.''

Solork gives a raspy laugh, the synth in the old voicebox kicking up static. "My previous expertise was in "disassembly" rather than "construction". Of organic beings mostly. Most find that change to not be comforting when I reveal it though. Do you find the explanation worthy of my pause, Master B-B-0P?

''Not really'' Bepop replied without a fuss ''You organics makes sports out of each other's disassembly and some event modulate noise praising it calling it ''music'' ''

He made make air quotes with his fingers

''This unit does not understand why you organicst become squeamish randomly about that topic''
