Bread Basket [Day 1, Event]
Bread Basket [Day 1, Event]
Event Type: Simple
Participants: All
Timeslot: EM-LA, Pick a pair of consecutive Timeslots.
Among the people of Kamda there are those who go hungry, unable to feed themselves because their ability to achieve gainful employment under the Empire was limited to such a point as to no longer be possible. Those who find themselves in the slums are many, and many would have been here without the increasing taxes of the Empire, however they have been joined by many more who have. These people need help, there is no question of that, the Empire has failed them and cast them aside.
However, the people of Kamda need not.
Event:
Organized by Deera, the former mayor of Kamda and leader of the people, there are many gathering just inside the slums in Kamda's lower residential district. Here, they gather to give out what food they can to the people. However, they need help. Food is expensive, and vast quantities of it, those needed to fill a small districts worth of people, is enough to break the bank of even one of those found in the Upper-class Residences.
All results of this event will grant advantage to the Militant Faction.
Feed the People:
There are many options, many paths, that one may take to aid the endeavors of those who feed the people of Kamda. Which way do you choose?
(Clarification: Roll only one)
Legal Checks made at Average: [2 Purple]
Survival:
Hunters and gatherers, those in tune with the natural world may make use of their skills to gather foodstuffs outside of Kamda city and in the surrounding areas. Working to supply what they can, either a hunted beast or enough berries to fill up a basket in a few hours time. It may not be a lot, but it will feed some and the food will be guaranteed to satisfy.
Piloting Planetary:
Though it may not contribute food directly, the lending of skilled work by driving a truck to pick up and deliver food stuffs may allow resources that would otherwise be largely wasted on the necessary task of getting the food delivered to be used elsewhere.
Medicine:
Doctors are needed everywhere, in the slums even more so. These people here are certainly not visiting any doctors office very often. There is plenty of work that could be done for these people, perhaps even lives that could be saved. At least, at the very least, lives could definitely be improved.
Negotiation:
Bargaining with local merchants may influence some to support their fellow man out of their own stock. Merchants, by their nature, are reluctant to part with their goods but the people of Kamda are a good sort, sometimes they just need a little talking up to remind them of that. Giving them or convincing them of a good reason on why it would benefit them in the long run? Well, that's just good business.
Leadership:
Seeing people lending a hand does wonders to make passerby want to help out too, but a leader? Well, a leader inspiring the passing masses to come and do their part makes them feel good about helping out before they've even begun. Gathering a small crowd of all too eager helpers!
Charm:
Convincing well off individuals to make donations to the cause would go a long way to bankrolling the endeavor. Allowing more food and supplies to be purchased.
Illegal Checks are made with Average Rolls with an Upgrade: [1 Purple, 1 Red]
Coercion:
There are many rich folk in Kamda, not a lot, but enough. They got there because they're tight with their purse strings and horde ridiculous amounts of credits despite their neighbors around them falling into despair. It was high time these people invested in the future of Kamda, for once.
Computers:
Computer systems are always vulnerable, if you know what you're doing. Perhaps a shipment accidentally gets redirected and lost somewhere in the slums? That'd be a real shame. All that food, those potential profits, lost in the slums. Real shame.
Deception:
They're making an investment. They don't need to know what it's really for. You didn't really lie, right? Benefiting the people of Kamda benefits everyone in the end. Sometimes people don't want to give away their credits to a worthy cause, more wanting to use it to invest further in their own future for better or worse. Certainly, this money could be put to better use.
Results:
Success' and failed rolls will be noted for the support during the event. Boosts, setbacks, triumphs, and potential despairs will all be dealt with on a case by case basis. All results gain support for the Militant Faction, just how much? This is an introductory event to the Tug of War between the two ideologies, don't fret the results so much.

It was almost a ritual. The act of waking early. The instinct of an Apex Predator was to hunt. To provide for themself, and those under their care.
Tranq took to it naturally. The Hunt. Chasing down quarry and bringing down game. It was natural, without the weight of conscience, or deriving pleasure from the kill.
It was about survival. And helping those in need. He brought in extra, enough for a few mouths.
More than had he stood by and done nothing.

Ters Tii's efforts to get his fellow legal minds to open their pocketbooks were not entirely successful. There clever lawyers knew that precious credits would be needed for bribes as the Imperial Administration continued to blossom and the law grew more arbitrary, while the venal lawyers were loath to lower the waterline on their pools of credit chips just to feed the poor. For these and other reasons, Ters' silver tongue found no purchase, but some among the administrative staff at the major firms discovered the old Kel Dor's altruism, and grew that much fonder of him, that much more likely to listen when he chose to make the call.

Tosath was one of the doctors that made it down to the slums regularly. He was no stranger to these people in need and many of them recognized him. Even in his official uniform, those that had checkered pasts and criminal leanings among the poor knew that he was not one to judge. He didn't care if a person had been convicted, served time and released for murder. He just didn't care. That was not his duty among the KSF and he made it a point to not question anyone about their past. Even when they brought it up, he would smile away any worries.
Dr Nazora just wanted to help the people of his home. This type of organized event to help people was just his kind of event. He was able to put his expertise to use for the people that needed it most. He spent all morning seeing to the illnesses and injuries of those that needed it most. Since he came into the mass of people fully rested and with nothing holding him back, having taken some personal time that he had saved up, he devoted hours without a break to seeing to their well being. It was obvious that the folks he was helping greatly appreciated his assistance.

Re: Bread Basket [Day 1, Event]
Scratching one another's back was the communitarian rule of the thumb for the densely packed downtrodden. Making small favours that could be returned later was how Fuff had survived in various places before. A strong motivation and the corresponding wit made him ideal for being a charity worker, and he could sniff surpluses on a person even if they wanted to hide it. An afternoon spent on chatting up and making emphatic arguments about the target individual being key to addressing the plight of the poor worked quite well, for what people often wanted to trade material goods for was a sense of moral aggrandisement and personal virtue. In the end, many shared willingly to the Farghul's encouragement, leaving with a strong sense that it was them, and mostly them, who were the reasons why society was not falling apart and descending into chaos. Fuff would also make sure that the urchins would know that the food deposited to Deera's containers was coming from him, so that he could count on their assistance in tipping him off in the future.

It was a risk, a big one, but guilt had been playing at her lately. Too many people looked at Jyvress with hollow eyes as she passed through the streets. She had ignored them at first, its not like she hadn't left other starving people on other worlds. She even had money then that could have helped! But she was growing tired of running, and no matter how far she went the pain was getting worse.
Jyvress tried talking to folks at first, but with no money and only middling negotiation skills little came of it....so it was she found herself at a city public terminal. Eyeing the street cautiously for any observers, she bent over the console and began her work. A few upper class restaurants would find themselves shorted an order or three. Suited her just fine.

Re: Bread Basket [Day 1, Event]
She'd heard the pleas. Hell, she'd lived in the slums for the past few weeks herself now. She knew what was going on; and she had something of a *history* of being opposed to rich folk; so really it was no surprise that she would be inclined to drop a few casual threats here and there. Use those damned credits of yours for something good for a change... or *else*.
She found herself in the better part of town; and just started asking for donations. Looking tough and armed while doing it. Wouldn't you know it? People were actually into charity! Never mind that they were shaking a little. That must just be because they were cold or something. Oh and... wait, is that a stormtrooper heading her way? Got to go!

While she would do better a muscling some funds out of wealthy idiots, Raven figured she'd best avoid getting wanted for mugging this early in her stay on the planet.
Help driving people around though, that was much less suspicious work and she did a decent enough job of shipping people to and fro on the borrowed speeder from Deera.

Solork couldn't quite shake a feeling that had been lingering of late. Guilt. An old dream wormed its way into a nascent conscience. Normally, he wouldn't have bothered exerting himself in something like this. After all, everyone would struggle in their own way. However, the slums afforded him a level of protection, or deflection and isolation. It helped him survive, and that was a debt that his honor could not simply let go.
Solork wasn't a trained medic, but when you had to stitch yourself and your siblings up after a fight, you learned a thing or two. Sadly, first aid to trauma wasn't the order of the day, it was long term care, and Solork finds himself out of his depth fast.

Manny knew just how to get money from rich people. He woke up really early. He put on his best suit. And he went knocking on doors.
"Good morning, old chum!" Manny greeted the man who'd opened the door. "I'm collecting money for the Children's Orphan's Violin Charity and Solarium Fund. Would you care to contribute?" The door slammed in his face.
Manny sighed. He'd been so sure that was going to work. Dejectedly, he took off his top hat; carefully, so that the sequins wouldn't get damaged. He'd put it, and the matching sequined jacket, away when he got home.

"Hi there" Leah, dressed in a very eye-catching attire, moved in front of the wealthy males wandering the district. It was obvious where his eyes were attracted to.
"Yes?" the human managed to say after a while.
Gotcha! Leah moved closer to the man, keeping her eyes on his and a sweet smile on her face.
"Well, I was wondering if you could do something...special for me. I know you have the right skills to give me exactly what I need" She lowered her voice as she got closer. The man gulped.
"W-well, I don't think it's something we should do...."
"Why not? I think you have exactly what I'm looking for" she placed her hand on his arm, giving him a wink "please?"
"Ok ok...you can have it. Let's go somewhere more private though" the man took the Twi'lek by the hand, guiding her away.
"Promise?"
"Of course, I'm a man of my word!"
"Well, ok then. Can you fill this out?" She held out a board. The man looked confused, and read it.
"...Wait, this is" he peered at the board, then at the girl.
"I thought you were a man of your word?"
The man sighed, and filled out the info, giving the donation suggested on the page (Leah had added a few digits).
"Thank you! I'll not bother you anymore. Byeee~" she winked and gave him a wave. The man awkwardly left, trying to hide something that stood out a long way just below the belt.
Needless to say, Leahs morning was a successful one. It seemed rich men were lonely ones too

There was several angry honks coming from the other drivers on the road as the truck the droid piloted zoomed across the city with the latest load.
Bebop's co-pilot was white with fright and hung to the door handle and dashboard like his life depended on it.
''This unit assures you that such response is not needed for this unit is in perfect control of the situation.'' the truck ducked and weaved between two cars at a speed that would make racers envious
''This unit will be the most efficient delivery driver, you'll see.''

Done on Kamda. Heading back to Naboo.
Re: Bread Basket [Day 1, Event]
The people of the slums won't go hungry tonight, at least, and many of them sing the praises of Deera and her companions. Though, specifically, many have a specific person in mind when they give their thanks.
