Jib Job [LA5]

So there came the time for the crew to ask about the details of the job...

And Jyrvess was there, at the assigned meeting point. Not too far from the Farghul.

Manny didn't quite appear in a puff of smoke, but he did show up pretty suddenly.

"Ayyyy..." He greeted the rest of the crew.

"All good?" The cat asked, seeing most of the crew arriving at the spot. His ears moved slightly, on the hear-out for any patrols.

One of Jarvis' people came to collect them and lead them through a building, only to exit into an alley, and then down through another building into a rail-way station and then be lead onto the rail-car to another location. Finally, they entered back onto the street, through another building, and then down a few blocks but through alleyways.

Finally.. they entered a beaten up old apartment building that seemed to be devoid of most life. Except for the top floor which was where Jarvis and a few others were waiting.

"My friends!" he said, quite jovially, "Well, we can call ourselves friends now yes? Friends wishing to make a lot of money together at least.." he said, beckoning them in and showing them the table.

Fuff smiled broadly in confirmation. He could do that. Smile broadly and manifest agreement despite apprehensions. He took a place by the table. "Hello, Jarvis. Hope all is well?"

"Mr. Jarvis," Jyrvess like wise smiled amicably and took her seat, glancing to her compatriots as she settled in.

"Alright..." he said, bringing up a few key pieces to his plan. A female Cathar sat in the back licking the back of her hand, smirking at Jyvress. "This here," he indicated the female Cathar, "is our lovely pilot who will be aiding you all in this little endeavor. We'll get back to that in a minute. You see... Empire's been mighty uppity about whatever it is they found in the mines. Thing is, despite no one really knowing what it is, I got myself a buyer who's willing to buy a whole lot of it for a whole ton of credits. Enough to put us all in the good lifestyle for quite a while."

"So, what's the catch?" he said with a grin, "Well, the only time that the goods are likely going to be vulnerable is.. in transit," he pulled up a few documents that displayed the Kamda-Beinirk rail-line, "Back to the loveliest pilot this side of the galaxy," he said with a wink back to her.

"She'll fly you in and drop you on-top of the train while it's in motion. You'll hook the rail-car up to the ship, decouple it from the other cars on the track and then climb back on up into the ship and fly away. Quick, clean, and efficient."

"That sounds pretty cool..." Manny said, although his tone was more muted than his usual. He glanced at the other two, wondering what they thought about it.

"Who's the buyer?" He asked. That seemed like a possible point of unexpected trouble.

"That sounds insanely dangerous." Jyrvess corrected, "Beyond the engineering aspects of this...operation. What are we looking at in terms of angry Imperials not wanting to have their rail car stolen?"

"How can you know that the cargo is in this particular car? Is it even the last one? This is not what I would do transporting something valuable: put it in the last car, or in an easily identifiable one." Fuff didn't like it, but he kept smiling.

"Never said it was in the last, never said it was easy to find, I got my sources. Now, since you are all so quick to start throwing judgement this way maybe you don't trust me or my word and on that accord we should drop this now before the idea of money puts blasters to hands and we get ourselves a standoff down the line," he said, reading the room.

"Otherwise, perhaps a little trust for your good friend Jarvis is in order? Buyer's someone you don't need to know, keeps me in the money appropriately for the work I do here. Trust me when I say that they're above the board to both get you payment and will not cause any trouble by association here. As for the Imperials, I don't imagine they've set much up in the way of a response on Kamda yet. Any guards that come out to stop you.. well, you deal with them however you can. Shouldn't be many, it is a cargo train after all. If you get the rail-car detached quick enough they might not even be a problem."

Jyrvess sighs, "Do you know what manufacture of train it is? The car in question especially....if we are doing this I would like to see if I can dig up some information on what safety measures will need to be bypassed and of course how to decouple the car to begin with. I'm sure both are standardized but knowing if the particularly run of cars had any sort of known problems that could get in are way would be helpful."

"Moved in by the Empire and hasn't quite seen service yet. Whatever they have is a pretty big deal though so it's definitely some kind of special order. If you want to do some research, could possibly sneak up to Beinirk and get yourself sliced in. Should have the data you need there," he said.

"Imperials are tight lipped, it's a hell of a job and there aren't going to be a lot of easy breaks.. but that's also why there's money in it."

"It seems to involve a lot of hopping and not getting blown away in full speed. Any specialised equipment you could help us with to make it more feasible?" Fuff interceded.

"Magnetic boots or tethers, ascension guns, scramble keys in case something needs to be opened, this kind of things." Fuff mused.

"Don't quite think we have all the time to get you all that," he chuckled, "besides. I like you all, I really do, but that's just not a level of expense I'm willing to toss out on those who've only done my grocery shopping for me as the length of our relationship. You dig?"

"This is...far riskier then I had anticipated and a bit strange." Jyrvess leaned back and sighed, "And a lot of unknowns we are dealing with. I would prefer to have planning time....but..." She looks to the other two, "If the pay is right..."

"Ten thousand credits per person doesn't wet your lips against the danger?" he said, looking around the room. "Look, I understand I'm not giving you all a whole lot here but I've put together the workings to make this plan possible. All you have to do is make it happen and make out with money that would make a Hutt blush."

"'sides, the excitement from the risk is practically half the fun," he looked around for anyone who seemed to share his belief on that note.
