[EM8] Crabitalism II: Crustacean Boogaloo

Vast desert south of the shelf of the world. With sparse vegetation most of the species found in Alask are predacious, and some venomous.

Knocked flat on his back, the Karkarodon roared as the great beast threw up the cloud of sand. Hissing to himself, he used his strength to roll himself free. Standing up, the spear blaster drawn quickly, he reached out through the Force.

The sensation of the life of the Crab interlinked with his, the two great hunters in the Force. "A worthy opponent!" He grit his teeth, looking to the Crab.

"Our battle will be legendary!" He howled at the creature.

Raven dug in her heels, feeling that the armor was doing its job in keeping her steady even as she had been knocked over.

Dex seemed to be handling herself, so Raven reacted quickly and grabbed a hold of Jyvress, yanking her back out of the sand. "I gotcha!"

With Jyvress still caught in the trap SAND CRAB maintained it's scooping of the sand at a rapid pace! Burying her beneath an ever fluctuating pit of sand! Still her hands reached out for help.

Meanwhile, jumping to her feet and rushing over Dex bumped into Raven's shoulder as she rushed to lend Jyvress a hand as well. Grabbing her around the wrist Dex tugged as hard as she could.

[Jyvress as an upgrade from her extra effort to lift Jyvress out!]

(Special Action, with an Athletics of Two or more you may spend an action to downgrade the difficulty of Jyvress' check to get her out of the pit.)

Jyvress suffers from suffocation for this turn. (Double check for me, I believe that's setback and strain or maybe just strain)

With Dex's assistance to pull Jyrvess' up just enough for Raven to get a proper hold on her, the Mandalorian woman grunted heavily as she began to haul the poor librarian away from the sand trap.

"Too early to call it quits already, burc'ya!"

Jyrvess took a deep breath as she was pulled out. She would have hugged the two most beautiful women she had ever seen at that moment in her life right then and there...if a giant crab monster wasn't still trying to eat them.

So instead she stood up shakily and managed to gasp out, "It...appears...similar...." Another deep breath, "to these....creatures....I had to study once...for an....attack on....it...doesn't matter....some clone wars battle...."

She spits a wad of saliva and sand out, "The armor plates.....are weakest....at the joints and were the two halves meet."

Further, the armor on this creature is incredibly tough. Without precise aim it would be nearly impossible to damage it with more conventional weapons.

However.. it also had another weak point. An underbelly it protected deep in the sand. Though it took great pains to never reveal it there could be a way, maybe.

Additional notes is that it's not properly a predator but territorial. Eating a hard to find resource deep under the sands to find sustenance it aggressively attacks any and all threats nearby.

Also, gonna upgrade the next Five checks from this point.

Tranq focused on the creature, their connection to the Force and him a flow. The two were focused on each other. His breathing slowed, as he took the time to aim, at peace with everything, with the Galaxy. Hearing Jyrvess' information, Tranq took in in. He trusted in the Force, his aim true. The blast lanced through, a powerful Deathblow that entered the Crab just beneath the eyestalks, where the top of the shell connected to the bottom of the shell, the space for it's mouth. It let out a vicious howl, seeming to be staggered, stumbling in place.

"We are one with the Force, Crab... I feel you." He whispered as he took note of the damage.

(Moving to more cinematic sequence as combat outcome is already determined with that Crit)

With Jyvress up from the sand, Raven wasted no time in slinging the carbine on her back, and started... making a charge straight towards the crab as she drew her sword! "OYA!!" For Raven, it was time to test the Forgemaster's word on the armor's vacuum seal as she recklessly let herself slide down into the trap.

"FROM BOTH ANGLES, TRANQ!" she called out to the Karkarodon before she went under.

It was absolute chaos to see through the shifting dark sand, but the overgrown seafood buffet was easy enough to find as she let herself slide down along its hard shell... until she found the soft part. With great effort, she pushed the vibrosword all the way in to the hilt!

Now this was a fight worthy of a Mandalorian!

"Hey! Hey you stupid crab! Over here, look at this soft piece of meat! Easy pickings! No armored shell or tough meat here!" She waved her arms to get the dazed creatures attention, hopefully giving the other two hunters a better opening.

The Great Karkarodon rushed up the staggered Crab, in his eagerness to meet the great beast, climbing up one of the claws to clamber onto it's back. His footing was unsure, as the creature swayed one way and the other. Even trying to compensate by aiming, the spear end of the blaster just chipped off the carapace, as Tranq struggled to keep his balance on it's back.

As the creatures death-throws from Raven below sent Tranq shaking atop, he held tight. Enough to get his spear into the hard carapace of the beast which didn't pierce the creature itself because... as strong as it was it was hollow! Cracking open the tough shell with all the effort from his blaster revealed... well, they'd have to take a closer look.

Dex.. was there too, but her efforts were not ones to re-tell in the story and she sulked off nearby to look out into the dunes to reflect on that.

Once the creature stopped moving, Raven navigated her way back up by climbing along its body, an effort made easier by the strength enhancing designs worked into the suit.

She breathed heavily as she got back on top of the dunes, nearly tripping a few times as she moved through the loose sand to finally find more firm ground beneath her feet, with sword now raised triumphantly. But a victory cry would wait as she saw Dex by herself.

First things first. "Everyone still in one piece?"

Jyrvess spits another wad of sand-saliva and nods, "Thanks to you and Miss Dex."

She smiled, "I am not much of a hunter it seems. Probably would make a better biologist." Her short laugh was interrupted by a small coughing fit, "Ugh I am going to cleaning sand out of places I don't even want to think about."

The Karkarodon slid down the carapace of the downed Crab. A heavy thunk that was muffled by the raising of sand as he landed, he slowly stood. Turning around, he looked at the great beast. Silent, solemn regard as he approached. A hand placed on the chitin plate just above it's face, leaning in. His forehead touched the fleshy portion that he could.

"Be one with the Force, creature. Rest now. I will meet you again." He whispered to the beast's body, before stepping back, looking up at the thing. The connection between them severed as the life ebbed away from the sand creature.

"Getting a close brush with death is just the start, burc'ya," Raven laughed and gave Jyrvess a solid pat on the back, still not quite used to her new strength in the upgraded armor. "You'll be craving more action and excitement in no time."

Seeing Tranq safe and sound as well, she gave a wave to the shark-man. "Nice shooting there!"

"I think I will stick to the shadows, enough excitement for me there," She rubs her back, "I appreciate the attempt but my spine wasn't out of place Miss Raven."

Jyrvess brushed some more sand off her jacket and undid her hair, a small dune worth of sand dumped out, "That was an amazing shot Mister Tranq," Noticing his manners around the fallen crab her mind suddenly clicked putting other little pieces together, "Better then most commando snipers. I remember hearing of those with focus beyond even the best military training." She wasn't about to vocalize the rest of her new theory on the aquatic warrior, even out here such could endanger them both.

Dex slumped back over, joining the group, "Glad you're alright there," she said to Jyvress, a small smile. Though her focus went quickly to the blade in her hand, clean. What a disgrace, she thought.

Meanwhile, cracking the hard case open Tranq was bestowed with a magical sight.. Crystals. Formed over a long life the Crab must have lived the sediment mixed with the organic matter inside and created a wholly unique crystal that was unlike those of a mundane variety.

Seeing that the others were alright, Raven checked on her student. Her gloved hands were firmly placed on Dex's shoulder.

"You saved the life of a comrade, Dex. That's good work, Sister." Yes, it wasn't a Mandalorian, but it showed that Dex understood the importance of teamwork. Mandalorians were stronger together, and this was a good starting point.
