A Most Dangerous Game [Day 5, MM]
A Most Dangerous Game [Day 5, MM]
Stepping up onto a rock, Dredgen gave a look to the surrounding area. Over his shoulders he wore a heavy fur the mixed in well with his armor. A large, strong man he was the sight of a towering giant out among the world, in the light. Scanning the surroundings he thought.
"Near here," he said, pulling his rifle from off of his back. Using the sling to shift it around to be held across his chest.

Raven adjusted the sling on her blaster rifle as she followed behind Dredgen. While taller than most young women her age, as well as bulkier, she felt kind of small next to someone like Dredgen. While she didn't personally like him, she had to admit he looked pretty impressive as a Mandalorian should.
"Right," she nodded at his directions and kept her senses sharp as the cold wind tugged on her thermal cloak that was wrapped around her. And still she felt cold and uncomfortable, her paranoid mind distracting her.

"Surprise," he said, working on adjusting his weapon for the fight he planned ahead. "We aren't here for a Nexu. Just a good enough lie to get you out here without anyone asking too many uncomfortable questions."
What Raven notices is that his gear isn't set up for a hunt. At least, not the kind of hunt she was expecting. All around them the ground was steep and unkind to most wildlife, but there seemed to be cavern systems poking out all over the place up above.
As far as she was aware though, the caverns above could be home to just about anything.

Raven took a step back carefully. Whatever expression was on her face was concealed under the helmet, but it was obvious her body was tensing up, and only years of living a rough life prevented her from freezing up in panic or shock.
"What's the meaning of this, Dredgen?"
"What's the meaning of this, Dredgen?"
Re: A Most Dangerous Game [Day 5, MM]
"Meaning of this is that your sponsor, and Mandalore, are blind to something and they don't even realize what that is. We know though, don't we?" he asked, the gravel in his voice rumbling.

"The kriff you talking about?" she almost shouted as she felt her voice rise, though she wasn't drawing any weapons yet. "If this is about your hurt feelings, you need to grow up already."
It wasn't the best quip, but for a moment thinking of Varina's sass at least helped her keep her focus on Dredgen and not on all the potential dangers of the terrain around them.

Dredgen tilted his head, thought for a moment, and then burst into a raucous laughter. Nearly falling over he leaned backward onto a rock and took a seat. Tilting on the newfound perch to the point of nearly losing his balance there too.
Sucking in deep breaths of air he choked down the laughter, "What do you.." he inhaled deep and rough, "what do you think this is all about girl?"

Re: A Most Dangerous Game [Day 5, MM]
Some of the tension left her body as Dredgen was reduced to... laughter. Maybe Varina was on to something with being so gorram sassy all the time.
"... Kriff if I know. I actually thought we were going to hunt," she grunted, a bit more back to her usual self, but also calmer again. Stupid Raven didn't know that Nexu didn't live on glaciers and icy mountains, as this was her first time in such terrible climate.

"Oh," he said, his voice coming back around, "Oh, we are here to hunt," he said, standing back up tall and proud with his rifle back in his hands. "Praxton, Mandalore, both of them.. I have been asking for so long, so long to have their permission to strike out against Saxon and his ilk. They didn't feel it was time. Now Saxon sent someone here, killed one of our own and they.. they want to turtle up, prepare for them and set a trap. Defend themselves," he shook his head.
"Nah, that's not my style. Saxon came here when I should have gone to him. Now, the hunter he sent is going to meet me.. and you, if you think you have what it takes to prove you're not as gutless or weak as Praxton. I've been tracking him for days and that Saxon is somewhere in these hills, in one of these caves. We split, we find him, and we bring him down."

Re: A Most Dangerous Game [Day 5, MM]
Her initial reaction was surprise... that Saxon bastard was still around here?
She wanted revenge. For Tiroc, but also... it was a target for her own rage for the loss of her family. It wasn't Vanito Cadera, but it was someone on the same side. It might ease the pain and need for revenge a little. On the other hand, Raven did want to prove herself in the eyes of Mandalore, and Praxton. Prove herself ready for her beskar'gam... to be considered a Mandalorian fully in her own right. Her brightright.
But what if it's a trap?
There was a moment's silence as she struggled with a brief inner conflict. "Let's get that son of a Hutt."

"Excellent," Dredgen said, darkly. "Today.. we kill a Saxon."
Dredgen turned them to the mountain, signalling her right and he turned left, "We will search separate, at the sound of combat.." he smirked, "well, when I find him try and get to me before you miss the chance at glory."

Raven gave him an affirmative nod, and moved over to the indicated direction for her. There was no need for words now and she was ready to begin the hunt.
Re: A Most Dangerous Game [Day 5, MM]
Dredgen, as indicated, moved left in search. Stepping high, and then low, over rocks as he checked his surroundings.

The terrain was unfamiliar to her. Coldness. No plants to navigate by. And yet, turning her father's hunting knife in her hand, she found a sense of guidance through the unknown of it.
It's not Vanito Cadera, but it's a step closer to him. And I'll get there in the end...
Unfamiliarity gave way to drive and a sense of destiny.

Re: A Most Dangerous Game [Day 5, MM]
Eventually, moving through the rocks, she found the hints of life. A scratch in a rock from a metal plate, different but subtle way-markers set aside for another to follow. Standing at the foot of one of the caves she knew that he was inside, somewhere in the dark..
Now it was just time to step in and find him.

Grimacing underneath the helmet, she sheathed her father's knife to free her hands for ease of movement. She had survived this long being a quiet hunter. And a cautious one too. Hunching down low, Raven felt the rush of adrenaline build within her as she knew she was getting closer to her prey...

Re: A Most Dangerous Game [Day 5, MM]
Light flickered from a flame as Raven approached, she was slowed by stalagmites that she slowly and carefully had to move between. During her approach she saw Dredgen on the other side, holding a hand up to his helmet in a shushing moment, not like she needed to be told.
Between them they could see the shadow of the Saxon, his image displayed on the wall from inside a small crevice inside of the cave. From the look of his shadow he was cooking something on a spit over the fire.

Re: A Most Dangerous Game [Day 5, MM]
Piece of poodoo...stalagmites... stalagtites? she briefly reminded herself to ask Jyrvess about the difference between the two terms, and which one was the correct one for pointy-stick-up-from-floor things.
There was the target at least, and the brief thought of something completely unrelated left her mind, as she focused only on the hunt. As she inched closer in her approach, Raven stopped, taking care to check for traps. Or signs of more than one person being here in the camp.
If he was alone, traps of some sort seemed more likely. If he wasn't alone... they could be getting more than they bargained for.

For once, Raven's mind was in the moment, completely focused and sharp...
